LEAD Delivers First Overseas Tabless Cylindrical Cell Production Line, Supporting European Luxury Car Brand’s Electrification Transformation

Recently, LEAD Intelligent Equipment (hereafter referred to as LEAD) successfully delivered China’s first export-oriented tabless cylindrical cell production line. The equipment will be used in the battery production line of a top European luxury car brand located in Nordlingen, Germany, providing substantial production capacity support for the brand’s electrification strategy.

With the global acceleration of the new energy transition, automobile manufacturers both domestically and internationally are launching electrification strategies. The delivered project is an essential part of this brand’s electrification roadmap. The delivered equipment includes tabless cylindrical cell winding equipment and cylindrical cell assembly lines, specifically customized for the client’s EV batteries. These batteries not only offer high performance and unique design but also serve as “boosters” for high-end and sports vehicles, while also being used for energy recovery storage in hybrid vehicles.

It is noteworthy that this is the first production line for these types of batteries to be deployed in Europe. The equipment not only meets Europe’s stringent CE certification requirements but also incorporates several self-developed, innovative technologies and processes from LEAD, fully satisfying the customer’s stringent demands for battery quality and production efficiency.

Real-Time Online Traceability

The production line is equipped with LEAD’s proprietary LEADACE smart factory system, achieving 100% real-time traceability for each battery cell.

Efficient Code Scanning System

The new generation code scanning system has a failure rate of less than 0.005%, which is more than 50% lower than traditional systems, ensuring real-time tracking of the complete process information for each individual battery cell.

Innovative Inspection and Process Technology

By combining the latest “Visual + AI” high-speed online inspection solution, the system can detect potential risks in the battery cells in real time, such as electrode overhang, tab folding, and electrode burrs, ensuring high-quality production. Additionally, the production line uses unique processes and many industry-first technologies, specifically developed for extra-long and ultra-thin electrodes. This has resulted in a 30% reduction in welding defects and a 30% reduction in operational costs.

As the global new energy transition accelerates, the overseas lithium-ion battery equipment market is encountering significant development opportunities. LEAD began its global expansion in 2018 and has since implemented a globalization strategy.
